Sewing is a lot like life...sure, there are patterns for just about everything, but in order to love what you do, or love what you make, you have to change the pattern to make it your own regardless if the change is a fraction of an inch or the length of a yard. And more often that not, those choices you make to change the pattern do not work out exactly the way you hope. It can be frustrating and challenging, and sometimes you have have to rip it all apart at the seams and start completely over. Which requires patience. A lot of patience. But in doing so, you create something that is far more rewarding, and far more beautiful, then what you started with.

I am back! (and not just from Vegas!)

I am back, and I don't just mean from Vegas! (though the hubby and I had a great time, that's not what this post is about) What I mean is, I am back on my sewing track, back on course to complete the once-intimidating Amy Butler Birdie Sling (read about my previous trepitation here)! I finally feel like I have enough items to make a good showing next month at the Maple Leaf Festival (read about it here), so tonight I took the first real steps to put my first Birdie Sling together....and here is how she is turning out!

I like the way she looks so far! I know yellow has been the most "buzzed" about color this season, but I really like the deep golds in these two fabrics. And really, I am finding that yellow is a very neutral color, the right shade looks great with just about any other color.

I can't wait to put the rest of her together! Y'all have to come back to see how she turns out!

Oh, and be sure to come back on Friday when I introduce what is to be a reoccuring post called My Fave Friday! First up, My Fave BOOKS!
