Sewing is a lot like life...sure, there are patterns for just about everything, but in order to love what you do, or love what you make, you have to change the pattern to make it your own regardless if the change is a fraction of an inch or the length of a yard. And more often that not, those choices you make to change the pattern do not work out exactly the way you hope. It can be frustrating and challenging, and sometimes you have have to rip it all apart at the seams and start completely over. Which requires patience. A lot of patience. But in doing so, you create something that is far more rewarding, and far more beautiful, then what you started with.

Monster Tees

I couldn't simply stop at the holiday tees I made over the weekend, I had to try it with something for the everyday. And that's when I remembered my most favorite monster fabric that was hiding at the bottom of my scrap bin! I love this print so much and I've been saving every little scrap I have of it for just the right project.



Instead of using the same tie pattern as the holiday tee, I decided it would be more fun to cut out each monster circle and sew them on scattered all over the tee.



I think it turned out so cute! And here is Z wearing his new monster tee on his dinner date with his sweet little friend Mattea on Saturday night. He and Mattea thought it was so funny to throw their hands up and tell me to stop taking pictures. I can just imagine this same scene 15 years from now when they are headed to prom together and I am embarrassing them! :)



Here is another one I made for a friend's nephew. So cute I think.

    Love this! I just bought a bunch of fleece prints the other day to do the same. I still have a lot of cutting to do before I can sew. ;-)

    That's a great idea!!! I do this sort of cutting out and using pieces with my scrapbooking. Loving that onesie. I need to visit your shop!
