Sewing is a lot like life...sure, there are patterns for just about everything, but in order to love what you do, or love what you make, you have to change the pattern to make it your own regardless if the change is a fraction of an inch or the length of a yard. And more often that not, those choices you make to change the pattern do not work out exactly the way you hope. It can be frustrating and challenging, and sometimes you have have to rip it all apart at the seams and start completely over. Which requires patience. A lot of patience. But in doing so, you create something that is far more rewarding, and far more beautiful, then what you started with.

New Fabrics AND New Patterns!

Dallas has a hip, fun little quilt shop called
and I just happened to find
these lovely, lovely fabrics on the sale table!

I am having the best luck with fabric on sale lately!

(the yellow I had in my stash, but I will be using him with the red)

I think I will be using all three sets for this new project!
I had been looking for a tote pattern forever
and I found this one a few weeks ago at Quilt Asylum.
I love that this one has SIX exterior pockets!

I also picked up this little pattern at CityCraft
and plan to give him a try with some scraps.
I like his shape and that he has
3 rows of pockets. These may be a great stocking stuffer!

Has anyone tried either of these patterns before? Do you have a tote pattern you love?

Happy Monday!

  1. You did a great job of finding such fun fabrics! I went down to the warehouse off 635 & Harry Hines this weekend and got some great fabric. I will post some pictures of my finds soon too.

  2. Love the little pattern with the 3 pockets. Let me know how that works is so cute. And youer new fabrics are great!

  3. I bought one of those little wallet patterns, it went together really quick, and it is super cute.

  4. wow I love that blue floral, and your choice to use that yellow with that fabulous red.

and that change purse looks neat-o.

can't wait to see what you make!
