Sewing is a lot like life...sure, there are patterns for just about everything, but in order to love what you do, or love what you make, you have to change the pattern to make it your own regardless if the change is a fraction of an inch or the length of a yard. And more often that not, those choices you make to change the pattern do not work out exactly the way you hope. It can be frustrating and challenging, and sometimes you have have to rip it all apart at the seams and start completely over. Which requires patience. A lot of patience. But in doing so, you create something that is far more rewarding, and far more beautiful, then what you started with.

I think I found my least a little of it anyways!

Over the weekend I decided to work on a simple little festive project to encourage my motivation to return and I am happy to say I think it worked! At least long enough to make these fun little holiday kitchen towels.

These are going in the mail tomorrow to my momma and my two sisters and I hope they enjoy the surprise!

I found the festive fabrics at JoAnn's in a fat quarter bundle and unfortunately what you cannot see is that all of the fabrics have sparkles throughout the material, so the towels are much more fun in person.
I hope your holiday projects are coming along as planned!
Happy Monday!

  1. How sweet! I'm sure they will love their surprise. Thanks for sharing.

  2. What a nice surprise from you! I'm happy to see that you found a little of that motivation again. I see that you're starting to wrap too....I really need to start SHOPPING.

  3. I found some motivation too and made a bag for one of the kid's teachers. I found the towels at WalMart to make some of these because I love all the ones you make, now I just need to actually get around to making them! LOL

  4. So cute! I'm going to have to make some of these!

  5. I have several towels on my shelf to do this exact thing. They have been sitting there for months. I really need to do them. Yours turned out so nice.

  6. I like the clean look your towels have - they can match any decor out there. Nice job! You might consider sharing them on my Holiday Home linky that will be up throughtout the season:

    Thanks for sharing!!
