Sewing is a lot like life...sure, there are patterns for just about everything, but in order to love what you do, or love what you make, you have to change the pattern to make it your own regardless if the change is a fraction of an inch or the length of a yard. And more often that not, those choices you make to change the pattern do not work out exactly the way you hope. It can be frustrating and challenging, and sometimes you have have to rip it all apart at the seams and start completely over. Which requires patience. A lot of patience. But in doing so, you create something that is far more rewarding, and far more beautiful, then what you started with.

I am taking the pledge!

The holiday season is 3 SHORT MONTHS away and today I am taking the pledge (no, its not like drinking the koolaid) to buy handmade (take the pledge here!) or to make handmade gifts this year when I can! Each year I find myself stressing out over the absolute wrong thing....do I have enough for each person vs do I have the perfect, meaningful gift for each person. This year, my pledge is to shop handmade before shopping retail and to do my best to make handmade, meaningful gifts for my family and friends.
What? You can't wait to start your holiday shopping? Well, by all means, beginning today Andrea at Knitty Bitties is offering excellent promotions on unique, handmade items in her etsy shop. Her items are cuter than cute! Seriously.

Which is my favorite? Oh, I don't know...maybe this Kindle cover?

Or this little wallet? LOVE the blue ruffle.

I can already imagine shopping this holiday season is going to be a lot more fun after taking the pledge! Let the countdown to the holidays, and the shopping, begin!!

  4. I went handmade once and then I saw my gift in my Grandma's garage sale a few years later. I gave that up. LOL I realized my gifts weren't good enough to give. :) Yours, on the other hand...
