Sewing is a lot like life...sure, there are patterns for just about everything, but in order to love what you do, or love what you make, you have to change the pattern to make it your own regardless if the change is a fraction of an inch or the length of a yard. And more often that not, those choices you make to change the pattern do not work out exactly the way you hope. It can be frustrating and challenging, and sometimes you have have to rip it all apart at the seams and start completely over. Which requires patience. A lot of patience. But in doing so, you create something that is far more rewarding, and far more beautiful, then what you started with.

What was I worried about again?

My first Birdie Sling is finished! And because naptime at our house was VERY productive the last two days, Birdie Sling has 2 sisters! That's right! Not 1, not 2, but I made 3 Birdie Slings this weekend!

So, without further ado, here they are!

I am so happy with the way they all turned out! And after all my trepidation about this pattern, I am not quite sure what exactly it was now that intimidated me. Once I actually sat down and read through the whole pattern, and read it again, and then read it again, (and again and again and again) it was pretty straightforward. The one thing that did suprise me though is the size...the Birdie Sling is a pretty big bag. The inside pockets are a must.

I have one more project I was able to work in this weekend, but I will wait and share a little bit later in the week! I can't wait to see what everyone else made over the weekend! I will be partying it up this week at the fun blogs I've liked to in my sidebar! Not only will you find fun sewing projects, but also you'll also find fun foods, furniture remodels and crafts! Enjoy!

  4. Gorgeous Bag what pattern did you use to make it?

And yeah totally agree that sometimes a pattern might look challenging at a first glance but after taking your time and reading it several times it simply clicks!

Great job on the bags :)
