Sewing is a lot like life...sure, there are patterns for just about everything, but in order to love what you do, or love what you make, you have to change the pattern to make it your own regardless if the change is a fraction of an inch or the length of a yard. And more often that not, those choices you make to change the pattern do not work out exactly the way you hope. It can be frustrating and challenging, and sometimes you have have to rip it all apart at the seams and start completely over. Which requires patience. A lot of patience. But in doing so, you create something that is far more rewarding, and far more beautiful, then what you started with.

I Bought Handmade This Holiday - #2

The holiday craft fair season has begun (for me anyways)! And whether you call it a festival, a fair, a boutique event or a bazaar, it is time to start shopping handmade for the holidays!

I set out bright and early this morning to shop two events I found in the local newspaper yesterday, one at a local high school and one at a local church. And although I offically got my start shopping for holiday gifts this last weekend at the Maple Leaf Festival, I've run into a little problem this time around....which is.....I want to keep all my handmade finds for myself! After you see the goodies I found I am sure you will see why!

First, I found these three little goodies at the same booth, Posh Petals, and it was really hard to decide because I loved everything in there! The green polka dot necktie was too cute to pass up and will look darling on my 3 year old during the upcoming holidays, and I loved that it has a clear plastic elastic neckband...so clever!

I also couldn't leave without both the pearly flower ring, which is simply lovely in white, and the deep purple petal pin, which will look great clipped either to a sweater or to my pea coat....wait, did I say clipped to my coat? I meant clipped to the coat of whomever is lucky enough to receive it from me this year.

Just a few booths down I found this lovely knitted scarf with the prettiest sparkly pin and I just couldn't leave without it. What I also loved is that you can either wear it around your head as an ear warmer or around your neck...whatever suits you! You can find one too at Colors of the Season, I had a tough time chooosing from all the beautiful colors!

My last handmade find of the day were these fun festive holiday coasters from a cute little booth called Hodgey Podgey. All the products are made by two sisters here in Texas, and although I ended up purchasing these for the holidays, I am sure I will visit their etsy site for ones for the everyday. They also offer a really unique set of coasters that they custom make from a picture you send to them, which I thought was so neat and personal!

Those are my handmade finds for this weekend! On November 1st I will be linking these up to the "I Bought It Handmade This Holiday" Link Party I am hosting for the entire month of November. Be sure to come back up in November and link your handmade finds for others to enjoy!
Happy Handmade Shopping!!
