Sewing is a lot like life...sure, there are patterns for just about everything, but in order to love what you do, or love what you make, you have to change the pattern to make it your own regardless if the change is a fraction of an inch or the length of a yard. And more often that not, those choices you make to change the pattern do not work out exactly the way you hope. It can be frustrating and challenging, and sometimes you have have to rip it all apart at the seams and start completely over. Which requires patience. A lot of patience. But in doing so, you create something that is far more rewarding, and far more beautiful, then what you started with.

Sewing on a beautiful Saturday afternoon

Since I started making these little aprons last week (see them here and here), I am LOVING how they are turning out! Ever since I brought this sweet little heart fabric home I have been dying to use it, and I am glad I held onto it for this. I love her. She reminds me of the little girl sweatshirts that we used to wear in the 80's that are making a big come back now.

I also love this ladybug print. I've made a few custom orders of her before, including both a blanket and a pillow case, and I love how she looks as an apron too. I really like the bright reds and greens for a little girl.


I am sure I should've been outside doing something festive today, but I am glad I was able to sneak in a few hours in my sewing room. But the day wasn't all wasted inside, my little man and I managed to find some pumpkins to pose with this morning. That counts as festive, right?

    I love making aprons. A reversible Thanksgiving/Christmas apron is on my to-do list for the weekend.

    Those are so adorable! I love them. We baked cookies with the girls yesterday (which we never do)and I was wishing I had whipped up 3 aprons for all of us.

    Just a few hours in the sewing room and you come out with these....they are super cute. I am really liking the ladybug fabric. Great job :)
